Our Story

Born from a garage.
Built for the course.

In 1959, Karsten Solheim was an engineer at General Electric who loved golf but hated his putter. So he made his own. Working in his Scottsdale garage, he designed a heel-toe weighted putter that made a distinctive sound when it struck the ball — a "ping."

That sound became a name. That name became a company. And that obsessive engineering mindset — the belief that every golfer deserves equipment built specifically for them — became the foundation of everything PING does today.

Six decades later, PING remains family-owned and Scottsdale-based, still designing, casting, and assembling clubs under one roof. From tour-winning drivers to your custom-fit 7-iron, the commitment hasn't changed: play your best.

"I'm trying to design a putter that the average golfer can use."

What Golfers Say

On the course, results speak

★★★★★

"Got custom-fitted for the G440 driver last spring. I'm hitting it 15 yards longer and finding fairways I used to miss by a mile. My buddies think I took lessons — I just got the right club."

Mark S. — 14 handicap, Phoenix, AZ

★★★★★

"Switched to the i530 irons after playing blades for years. I didn't lose any feel, but my mishits started going straighter. The fitting process was thorough — they measured everything."

Jennifer T. — 8 handicap, Scottsdale, AZ

★★★★★

"The Scottsdale putter changed my short game. The weight, the balance, the feedback on contact — it's the best putter I've ever owned and I've been through a dozen of them over 20 years."

David R. — 11 handicap, Tucson, AZ

Common Questions

Everything you need to know

You'll work one-on-one with a certified fitter who measures your swing speed, launch angle, spin rate, and more. Using PING's nFlight technology, they'll recommend the ideal combination of head, shaft, grip, lie angle, and length. The whole process typically takes about 45 minutes.

Most custom orders are assembled and shipped within 5–10 business days from PING's facility in Phoenix, Arizona. During peak season (spring/summer), lead times may extend slightly. Your fitter will give you an estimated delivery date at the time of order.

The G440 is designed for golfers who want workability with forgiveness. The G440 Max pushes the moment of inertia higher for maximum stability on off-center hits. The G440 K model goes even further, with the deepest CG in the family for the highest, most forgiving launch.

Not at all. In fact, higher-handicap golfers often see the biggest improvements from proper fitting. When your clubs match your swing, you compensate less and hit more consistent shots. PING fitting is for every skill level.

PING offers a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner. This covers issues with materials and workmanship but not normal wear and tear. Contact PING directly at 800-474-6434 for warranty claims or questions.
